studio days

I know its been a while since my last post but that doesn't mean I haven't been painting. Though work has picked up I still manage to squeeze in a few studios days a week. Ashley and I moved our wall around to open up the studio space, and you can feel the difference. There's such a good vibe at Space Race, the positive energy is soaring, mostly because it's being worked in.

I've been working on a new painting of the Moon's chemical elements.

Here is a quick peek at what's coming. this unfinished paining still has a lot of work to be done!

and here's a few studio shots of ashley and I.

Until next time.

New Painting!

After a long month of work I've finally finished this painting, a coded system I've developed that depicts the Chemical Elements in human teeth. The painting will be in the group show "That Bites" at Pageant Gallery on 6th and Bainbridge st. Philadelphia PA. on August 14th from 6-9. All the works will be auctioned off the night of the show, to raise money for oral surgery and Give Back a smile Charity. Come out to support a good cause and enjoy a night of art, music and drinks from the Philadelphia Brewing Company.

Artist Statement

My paintings are visual data that provide a glimpse of the fundamental microscopic structures of the universe. Scientific laws are studied and interpreted to create a system that transforms numeric information into visual data. By studying the Periodic Table I have developed a coding system that represents each Chemical Element in order to make vivid, diagrammatic works of the elemental composition of the human body in relation to the cosmos. My concept is to create a visual system, which functions as a symbolic representation of the elements shared between our body and the universe. This system was created to show humanity’s atomic connection to the cosmic cycle of life, death, and rebirth; and to find a metaphoric connection between our existence and the existence of the universe.

Welcome to Space Race Studios!

We have lift off! The past few weeks in the studio have been very exciting. For one, we settled on a name with some help from our good friend Ian. Juniper Space Race Studios! We also finally got our walls up and it's quite a transformation. Since there is only 3 of us in the space and not four like expected we made each studio bigger 12' X 15'! Check out the before and after pictures.
