New Work for Sacred Geometry Art Show

This week I finished a new piece called "The Sacred Cycle of Venus". This small painting of Venus features a die-cut that represents the orbital patterns of the planet.  Her orbit seen from earth, creates sacred geometric shapes.

This painting will be shown next month, at the Sacred Geometry Art Show hosted by 4th Street Arts. The opening reception is on December 14th from 5pm-10pm at the City Hall Rotunda Gallery in Jersey City. This is a Hurricane Sandy relief benefit, so if your in the neighborhood please come check it out. Hope to see you there!

olafur eliasson

I been doing research on different lighting materials, since I'm trying to make this light sculpture. I've even asked a few of the guys from the exhibits department at work for advice. One suggested checking out this artist Olafur Eliasson who works with light. His art is totally inspiring. I love they way he uses light to create an intimate atmosphere that surrounds you. This is the experience that I've been looking to create in my work.

If you haven't checked out this guys work I suggest you do, because its wonderful!

I just need to figure our how to use the materials I want to work with. Looks like i'll be doing a lot of research today on LEDs, Neon and plastic tubing!

I just got back from my trip to Los Angeles! I had such a great time hanging out with my best friend and fellow artist Ashley Payne. The highlight of my trip was getting to spend the day assisting Ashley in teaching her art classes at Headquarters High School. In each class we made small accordion style books. The students where so excited after making their book that they asked to make another one. It was such a great experience. I'm so glad I got the chance to meet Ashley's students and help her teach art. I only wish I could have been there a few more days to see them fill their books.

"A Manifestation of Self"

This month I've been working on some projects that are a bit different from my other works.
These pieces are inspired more by my spiritual ideas then science based. I feel my work has always been about the balance of the two ideas. Though sometimes its easy to get lost in facts and numbers because these things feel so tangible. But in truth there will always be questions about both science and religion.
I like to remind myself often that though I am a physical being of this Universe there is a greater force to recognize.
"A Manifestation of Self" is a series of works based on my daily reminders of who and what I am and the person I want to be.

Drawings in progress

I've been working on a few drawings lately. These are not finished but I feel drawing is an important part my process as it helps me to compose paintings. My work is research based and drawing is a huge part of visualizing the information.

I've been working on a lot of geometric drawings lately. I think I'm going to do some paintings like them soon. Here is one of the watercolor drawing/paintings I've done.

All of my paintings start out as a drawing. These drawings serve as a basic layout of my paintings.
