Drawings in progress

I've been working on a few drawings lately. These are not finished but I feel drawing is an important part my process as it helps me to compose paintings. My work is research based and drawing is a huge part of visualizing the information.

Here are a few drawings in progress

Saturn's elements represented in their geometric crystal structure

Jupiter's elements represented in their geometric crystal structure

studio time

Despite the cold it was a very productive studio day. I would have like to stay longer, but I couldn't feel my toes.

"Earth" painting in progress.

Geo Color

I've been working on a lot of geometric drawings lately. I think I'm going to do some paintings like them soon. Here is one of the watercolor drawing/paintings I've done.

Jupiter Drawing

"The Combined Crystal Structure of Jupiter's Elements."

All of my paintings start out as a drawing. These drawings serve as a basic layout of my paintings.

First look at the Earth

Here's a few photos of the Earth painting I've been working on. First is a drawing of the combined crystal structure of the main elements that make up the Earth. (Minus a handful of trace elements.)

Next a quick look at the Neutron bands of the Earth's elements.

This is a work in progress, I'll post more when I finish painting.

I know I've been slacking with my posts lately, but that doesn't mean that I'm not making work. This year has been crazy. I'm now in my 3rd studio. I moved out of the place in my last post after someone broke my window and I realized I didn't really feel comfortable working there anymore. Also my dear friend and studio mate Ashley moved to LA and there for I’ve made some changes of my own. Since then I've set up shop elsewhere and got back to work.

I've been doing a ton of drawing and research and started a new painting of the Earth's Elements!

I'll post photos once I take some decent ones. Next on my list is a new camera.

Welcome to Space Race #2

After two cold, harsh winters, my studio mates and I finally decided to give in and leave our studio that we love sooo much, to a new space that has HEAT!

It only took us several months of numb fingers and toes, frozen paint, and five useless space heaters to relocate... but it was worth it.

Welcome to the new Space Race Studio. A cute store front in South Philadelphia and our new home.

Claiming our space.

Moving in.
