“The
Sacred Cycle of Mars”
2013
Acrylic and
cut paper (Mixed Media)
12” x 12”
This
painting of the plant Mars features a paper die-cut that represents the planets
orbital patterns when seen from Earth. Mars goes into a retrograde once every
two years, during this period the planet appears to be moving backwards. The
orbital movements of the Earth, in relation to Mars, create an illusionary
pattern of a seven-pointed star or flower. In scared geometry seven
interlocking circles create the flower of life symbol that represents the
organic pattern said to contain the fundamental forms of space and time.
